HROTD: Colin Niehaus, 2019 M, St. Ignatius (CA)

They say speed kills, and when you mix that with size, we’ll, then you’ve got Colin Niehaus.

Today’s QuickStick Highlight Reel of the Day spotlights Colin Niehaus, a 2019 midfielder who plays at St. Ignatius College Prep in California. St. Ignatius is amongst the premier programs in the county and it’s no surprise they’ve been able to produce a big-time player like Niehaus. Simply put, Colin is a straight up beast. A phenomenal athlete, he’s nearly always able to gain separation either through physicality, speed or even a combination of the two. For someone of his size, Niehous has ridiculous agility. Not to mention, his vertical style of play allows him to excel on alley dodges and step down shots.

I’m truly shocked to see that Colin isn’t a verbal commit, and I doubt he’ll be on the market too much longer. In 2017 as a sophomore Colin was a contributor on the St. Ignatius Varsity team (finished 11th in the UA/IL Top 25 High School Power Rankings), seeing time both as a short stick and long stick midfielder. This season his role will only increase as the Wildcats look to have another strong season. Niehaus plays his club ball for Alcatraz Outlaws.
